 The Honourable Neil LeClair was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly on May 28, 2007 in the district of Tignish-Palmer Road. He served as Minister of Agricutlure from June 12, 2007 to January 13, 2009.  On January 14, 2009 he was appointed Minister of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development. 

Mr. LeClair was born in Tignish in 1956. He is the son of Brad and Francis LeClair, and is the second oldest of eight children. He is a life-long resident of Tignish, and is active in his community. He was a member and chair of the Board of Directors of the Tignish Co-op, vice-chair of the Western School Board and chair of the Tignish fire district since its inception. He is a member of the St. Simon and St. Jude church, and has served on a number of church committees. He is a former treasurer of the District 27 Liberal Association. He is married to Edie Gallant of Miminegash. They have four children, Sandie, Travis, Chris and Julie, and two grandchildren, Grace and Libby.

Mr. LeClair farmed for 26 years and was also involved in the construction industry.
